The Spice Island, from 1856, 3,200 Girmitiya labourers worked sugar and nutmeg estates.

Grenada received approximately 3,200 Indian indentured labourers between 1856 and 1885. Known as the 'Spice Island', Indo-Grenadians became part of the nation's multicultural fabric.
